Studies on the Analgesic and Anticonvulsive Effects of Jakyakgamchotang Extract Aqua - acupuncture stimulation in Mice

Abstract
This study was performed to investigate the Jakyakgamchotang extract Aqua-acupuncture (J.G. Aqua-acupuncture) on the analgesic and anticonvulsive effects in mice.
Pain was induced by injecting 0.7% acetic acid in isotonic normal saline and convulsion was induced by injecting pierotoxin, strychnine and caffeine into the corresponding Jog-Sam-Ri(ST36) in mice.
J.G. Aqua-acupuncture was injected into the corresponding Jog-Sam-Ri(ST_(36)) in mice ahead of pain or convulsion induction.
Experimental groups are divided into 3 groups : treated with normal saline, JG-AA group ; treated with actic acid, picrotoxin, strychnine and caffeine.
And then the numbers of Writing syndrome, time to convulsion, time to death were measured.
The results are summarized as follows :
1. Jakyakgamchotang extract Aqua-acupuncture (J.G. Aqua-acupuncture) into Jog-Sam-Ri(ST_(36)) showed highly significant analgesic effect to pain in duced by acetic acid.
2. Jakyakgamchotang extract Aqua-acupuncture (J.G. Aqua-acupuncture) into Jog-Sam-Ri(ST_(36)) showed significant effect on both time to convulsion and time to death induced by strychnine.
3. Jakyakgamchotang extract Aqua-acupuncture (J.G. Aqua-acupuncture) into Jog-Sam-Ri(ST_(26)) showed significant effect on both time to convulsion and time to death induced by picrotoxin.
4. Jakyakgamchotang extract Aqua-acupuncture (J.G. Aqua-acupuncture)into Jog-Sam-Ri(ST36) showed highly significant effect on time to convulsion induced by caffeine.
